2018 is already well and truly in full swing and we have already seen the autumn/winter drops of some of Australia's most popular labels. So what can you wear to ensure that you are on trend for this year no matter what your event? This quick reference guide will hopefully help you with purchases and hires for the year and not leave you lagging behind in the fashion stakes.
Check Prints - One print that will be everywhere and on all types of clothing is the check print. We have already seen it with Misha's new collection in a stunning array of grey and black dresses and skirts and royal duo Princess Kate and Meghan Markle have both been sporting the trend.
Fringe - On everything from bags to dresses to shoes fringe has taken on a flirty and feminine edge. Far from being the dowdy look of the 80's this look is far more simplified and toned down but if a fringed dress is not for you maybe start with one of Farrah & Sloane's signature fringed bag and work your way from there.
Buckle Shoes - Self Portrait triggered this trend with their spring 18 shoes sporting a rather large buckle but everyone from Dior to River Island have caught on to the trend and have turned a 60's feature into something beautiful and modern. If a buckle on your heels doesn't sound appealing then rock a pair of biker boots with jeans and your bang on trend.
Lavender - This trend is a beautiful nod to femininity. Not quite as in your face as the pinks and reds of the past season lavender is simple and beautiful to wear and works well with a myriad of colours. New collection Eliya the Label, Mossman and Victoria Beckham are all on board this stunning new colour.
60's Floral Prints - The floral trend will continue for autumn/winter but will be much more of a nod to the 60's in reference and design. Flowers will be larger and colour palettes more edgy. As Marina Liao for PopSugar states mix it with a pop of check to really bring it into 2018. Beautiful 60's prints we have seen so far are from Alice McCall, Camilla & Marc & Self Portrait.
Daytime Sparkle - Glitter and sequins are usually reserved for nighttime festivities, but we're here to tell you they're perfectly fine for daytime wear too. Let the natural light reflect off a shimmery skirt or top because there's no better way to stand out. Plus, now you don't have to worry about changing out of your 9-to-5 look
