Just like our clothes hairstyles also change depending on the year and the season. This year we are already seeing a nod to the 80's with curls, perms, scrunchies and barrettes all making a comeback on the catwalks.
Curls - we started to see a nod to this look towards the end of 2017 however 2018 is looking bigger and better in the curve department. Get your stylist to make your curls bigger than ever and avid the relaxer. If you are looking for a less defined look then run your fingers through your hair to separate the curl.
Dirty Blonde - This is the new colour trend in an attempt to move away from the more high maintenance platinum/white look from 2017. This look is more about keeping the roots dark and the lengths a more golden tone.
Big & Bouncy - My favourite the big, bouncy blow-dry is back! Shiny glamorous hair is the look to have and is a nod to the 80's disco look that is also making a comeback. It is not as "set" as we saw in the 80's but more a look textured with volume and curls that are broken with a soft flick. Think Princess Kate or Margot Robbie for inspiration.
Headscarves - This look should look more like strolling down the Mediterranean rather than working in the garden. This look needs to be worn flat tied to the head with a low chignon with bounce to the crown and embrace flyaways to keep it young an cool. We have seen some beautiful bright pieces from Murley and Co that have us daydreaming about this look.
Wet Look - Unlike its last foray into the fashion scene this time around the wet look is more about working with textured hair rather than slicked back. This year wear your wet hair loose and tousled for a much more softer, feminine look.
Scrunchies - One of the downsides of the 90's trend was the scrunchie of which we all had at least 1! This year we see it worn down low and understated in a very simple fabric. Metallic scrunchies are definitely to stay in the 90's.
School Girl Plaits - A much more laidback version of the braid this is a replica of what you would do when you had a couple of minutes to spare. You want to keep this look loose and a bit untidy and make sure you secure it with hair ties that are barely visible.
Hairbands - The ultimate 2018 accessory these beauties were seen everywhere and in Australia we saw a lot of them begin to appear for the Spring Racing Carnival in 2017. The bolder the print the better and they look amazing on almost all types of hair and style.
